Submit a song for 50 States of Song 2019!
Hey, everyone! We are renewed for a fourth season of 50 States of Song, officially, with this post. Huzzah! And in that vein, we will once again open the doors to you, dear friend, to submit your favorite songs!

When submitting songs, be aware of the 50SS rules. First and foremost, we accept songs from any of the 50 U.S. states, or any U.S. territory. Secondly, the song must have been released in the year 2018 - no exceptions! If we find proof that it was released prior to January 2018, the song will not be accepted. Thirdly, the song must be between 3 and 4 minutes in length. This is so no song has an advantage over another. As it is, most songs these days fit within this time length.
There are some other rules to be aware of, as well, and they are listed on the submissions form.
If we receive a high amount of submissions for a particular U.S. state or territory, we may hold a state song selection, which allows the community to vote for their preferred entry. We will announce after song submissions have closed whether this will happen for 2019.
If you are an artist or musician who performed or wrote a song for submission to the contest, we may give you preferred treatment over other entries - given that it's not happened yet, we're clarifying for our readers that we do wanna hear from the independent artists and musicians of our country.
The submission form will be open until January 26, 2019, after which the 50 States staff reviews and chooses the finalist for each state. The staff looks for strong entries that hold their own ground, come from a variety of genres, and that do not break any posted rule.
