The results are in for each of the four (experimental) state song selections that took place over the last ten days. These states were Colorado, New York, Oregon, and Tennessee. Thank you to everyone who took the time to participate! We learned a few things along the way, most certainly - and you may see state song selections return in the future. Without further ado, we introduce to you the four winners from each of the selections.

COLORADO Rachel Crow - Dime
We remember Rachel Crow from the first season of the short-lived US version of The X-Factor. She was one of the youngest contestants on the show to make it to the Top 12, and... I thiiiink she got 5th? In my opinion, her elimination may have triggered the beginning of the show's decline - when it was announced she didn't make it, she CRIED BIG-TIME on live air. The host (Steve Jones) was so uncaring and robotic in response that it may have solidified his fate: he was cut from the show at the end of the season. We're glad to see that she stuck to music and is making good pop music to boot! You guys think so, too... she is the winner for Colorado! :) --
NEW YORK Eighty Ninety - Your Favorite Song
This is a surprise victory to us - it barely edges out SAINTE for the win. And that's why we wanted to do this, so that we weren't "calling all the shots"! Eighty Ninety is a relatively new group made up of brothers Abner and Harper James from Brooklyn. It's very minimalist, and we'd write more but there's very little information online about the duo. We'll see how this does in the grander scheme of the contest. What are your thoughts on it? -- OREGON flor - Hold On
This was another surprise victory, but compared to the other songs in this selection, it may have had the biggest overall appeal. Indie pop group flor's debut album was released in May under the Fueled By Ramen label, and is led by vocalist Zach Grace. The band started in Hood River, Oregon - which is a small town east of Portland on the Columbia River. Compared to New York, this song -barely- qualifies for inclusion, as it was released on January 6th, 2017. Given that Portland is one of the most *hipster* cities in America, it's no surprise we get a very hipster song from them. They're currently on tour in Europe, so catch them live! -- TENNESSEE The New Respects - Money
Tennessee is the heart and home of country music, and they have yet to send a country song! But we think that just goes to show how musically inclined the U.S. state is, overall. The New Respects are based out of Nashville and the lead singer of the band, Jasmine Mullen, is the daughter of successful gospel singer Nicole Mullen. Their sound is described as 'blues rock,' which - it definitely is - and it barely edges out for the win. ---- You can view the FULL RESULTS TABLE of our voting for these state selections by clicking on the link.
Thank you for everyone who contributed, and we will be moving swiftly on to the semifinals very shortly - so don't go anywhere!!
